PickITup Chinatown

OCA's East Bay Chapter (OCA-East Bay) has been around for over 30 years trying to help develop new community leaders. For the past few years we have activated people through "PickITup Chinatown", a monthly program to get people to feel values of community ownership and that civic engagement is not just about voting.

In our TENTH YEAR, we've cleared hundreds of pounds of trash and illegal dumping out of the Chinatown, have disrupted graffiti, and planted/watered new trees in the neighborhood.

PickITup's have happened monthly on the second Sunday of each month for the better part of the past nine years. There have been some exceptions based on special scheduling, and we have been able to work with organizations to do PickITup's doing the week if there's enough interest.

Meetup spot is Wilma Chan Park (formerly known as Madison Park) on 9th and Jackson Streets.
