StreetFest 2009 Recap
by Jennie Ong

Greetings!   I would like to take this opportunity to reflect back a few weeks ago when 100,000 attendees came to celebrate the 22nd Annual StreetFest in Oakland Chinatown. Over the two-day run, they savored the taste, listened to the sounds and saw the rich colors that made Oakland Chinatown unique.  Eight blocks of Chinatown were filled with 200 plus vendors and cultural activities.  There were two stages with continuous live music, Chinese acrobats, Japanese Drummers, martial artists, various cultural dancing, popular bands and a Cultural Village where master artisans demonstrated and offered hands-on crafts for the whole family.  The festival was kid-friendly with many games and a carnival.  Along with the many booths to browse, visitors also enjoyed shopping and dining in the many stores and restaurants in the area.

Kudos to the following participants for making StreetFest another resounding success!
