Spring Banquet is the Chinese tradition
of gathering with friends and family for
a multi-course dinner to welcome in the
the New Year. While the Oakland Chinatown
Spring Banquet is held a couple of months
after the lunar new year, it retains the
same spirit.
The annual Oakland Chinatown Chamber
Of Commerce Spring Banquet is held every
April at one of Oakland Chinatown's premier
restaurants, and draws over 300 people
each year. It is one of the Chamber of
Commerce's main fundraising events. This
gala event introduces the OCCC's new Board
of Directors. The festivities usually
include keynote speeches, awards and special
recognition of organizations, community
leaders, and members for civic contributions.
The event attracts a diverse crowd, which
usually includes a smattering of local
politicians, members of other Chambers,
local business people, and corporate sponsors.
The event offers a tremendous opportunity
for networking.
Guests and Chamber members are treated
to an open bar and multi-course Chinese
banquet dinner. All who attend are treated
to a feast fit for royalty. The festivities
also include a silent auction and the
premier of the new Oakland Chinatown StreetFest
logo and T-Shirt.
